NNA - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday met with the UN Special Representative of the Secretary General, Lakhdar Brahimi, and the accompanying delegation, with talks touching on his tour of a number of countries in the region, as part of the ongoing preparations for holding the international Geneva II conference.
"The success of any political solution is associated to stopping the support of terrorist groups and putting pressure on states that sponsor them and facilitate the entry of terrorists and mercenaries to the Syrian territory and provide them with money, weapons and various forms of logistical support," Assad said.
"This is the most important step to creating conducive conditions to dialogue and to develop clear mechanisms to achieve the desired goals," he added.
"The Syrian people is the only body authorized for shaping the future of Syria, and any solution or agreement must be accepted by the Syrians and reflecting their desires away from any foreign interference," Assad went on.
Brahimi spoke about the "efforts to hold the Geneva II conference which focuses on how to help the Syrians meet and agree to resolve the crisis as soon as possible."
