NNA - The United States today urged Sri Lanka's future leaders to "act quickly" to restore economic stability and calm popular discontent, after President Gotabaya Rajapaksa announced his resignation after fleeing his mansion that was stormed by a large number of protesters, as reported by "Agence France Press".
A US State Department spokesman said the new Sri Lankan government should "act quickly to identify and implement solutions that will provide long-term economic stability and allay the discontent of the Sri Lankan people".
