NNA - In an interview with the National News Agency, Gas Station Owners’ Syndicate member Dr. George Al-Brax said on Friday that many reasons have contributed to the additional hike of fuel oil prices in Lebanon, including the recent increase in the black market US dollar rate.
However, Al-Brax has sternly warned that the Lebanese Central Bank’s decision to make fuel importing companies secure 15% fresh US dollars instead of 10% for their new shipments would eventually lead to a new fuel crisis nationwide.
“The path adopted by the Central Bank gradually increasing the percentage of fresh US dollars to be ensured by fuel importing companies would eventually take Lebanon back to a state of crises that it has not gotten over its humiliation and cruelty yet,” he warned.
