NNA - General Security Chief, Brigadier General Abbas Ibrahim, said Tuesday that releasing the two Orthodox Bishops abducted in Syria last April was a major concern for the agency, after nine Lebanese pilgrims were freshly freed from kidnapping in Azaz.
"We are now indirectly communicating with the kidnappers. This is a crucial point upon which we can build so as to reach conclusions," he said, during a series of regular meetings with the agency's brass today.
"The achievements we are making on all levels, including the Azaz abductees dossier, are not for personal purposes. These are for the state, and not for us," he stressed, extolling the devotion efforts exerted by officers and military men.
Ibrahim did not fail to deplore the current situation in Tripoli as "shameful." "Every day, innocent people die. The state seems to be incapable. I just hope things don't replicate in other regions," he said.
"This week, we will make a tremendous work in Tripoli," he vowed.
Separately, Ibrahim met today with the newly-appointed Dutch Ambassador to Lebanon, who came on a protocol visit.
He also met with a delegation of Andari family, with talks touching on the latest developments pertaining to Imad Andari, a Lebanese abducted in Nigeria.
