Outcome of first round of binding parliamentary consultations: 31 votes for Mikati, 14 for Salam, one vote for Hariri, boycott of Rifi

NNA – The outcome of the first morning round of binding parliamentary consultations conducted by President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, at Baabda palace to designate a prime minister, has resulted so far in 31 votes for Caretaker Prime Najib Mikati, and 14 votes for Ambassador Nawaf Salam.

The number of deputies who abstained from any naming reached 26, while MP Jihad Al-Samad named former Prime Minister Saad Hariri for the premier-designate post.

MP Ashraf Rafi boycotted the binding parliamentary consultations to designate a prime minister.
