NNA - Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Monday held a meeting at the Grand Serail devoted to discussing the electricity dossier, in the presence of Energy Minister, Walid Fayyad, and a delegation representing Électricité de France (EDF). 

The meeting mainly sought the means to speed up the agreement with the EDF to set the necessary conditions to build electricity plants in Deir Ammar and Al-Zahrani.

Both sides agreed to review the bid costs and deadlines for each stage so that a public tender could be launched as soon as possible. 

Separately, Mikati welcomed Kuwait's Ambassador to Lebanon, Abdelal Al-Qena'i, who paid him a farewell visit.

During the meeting, Mikati praised the efforts made by Ambassador Al-Qena'i to strengthen Lebanese-Kuwaiti relations. Later during the day, Mikati met with UNITAR Director (United Nations Institute for Training and Research) Nikhil Seth, who briefed the Prime Minister on the training opportunities that the Lebanese people could benefit from in the fields of environment, waste management, climate change, sustainable development goals, social integration, analyzing satellite images, as well as the integration of women in the field of decision-making, all of which build the capabilities of the Lebanese youth in all fields.
