NNA - Deputy Ali Khreis confirmed on Tuesday the presence of new suggestions related to the cabinet formation, saying that "it is demanded at this critical stage to drive Lebanon out of this serious situation through the formation of a national unity cabinet."
The Lawmaker said that Speaker Nabih Berri and MP Walid Jumblat agreed on the 8-8-8 formula which was previously suggested, pointing that communications over this formula are taking place to reach harmony among various political parties.
Khreis confirmed that communications were ongoing over cabinet formation, ruling out his knowledge of any scheduled appointment between the President of the Republic and Caretaker Minister Ali Hasan Khalil.
However, he added that such a meeting would be held if need be.
"Vacuum is killing, what is required today is to form a new cabinet as soon as possible and the other team (March 14) has to shoulder the responsibility because the current situation is very critical," the deputy said.
Khreis said that forming a new cabinet and electing a new president are directly connected; stressing that cabinet formation would ease meeting the presidential dead line.
