NNA - Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasypkin, said the Geneva 2 Conference represented "the only path to a political solution."
The diplomat expressed his views yesterday at a dinner hosted in his honor by the Mourabitoun movement in the presence of an audience of politicians.
"The Geneva 2 Conference is essential for improving the situation in the Middle East and temporary goals should be made to put an end to the misery of the Syrian people, stop the fire and start dialogue which Russia has called for since the beginning of the crisis in Syria," he said.
Zasypkin stressed that the participation of Riyadh and Tehran, among other countries, in the conference was essential, hoping that the Syrian opposition will also be represented.
