NNA - The spokesperson of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, Martin Youssef, said in an exclusive interview to the National News Agency on Thursday, that a new page of Justice has been opened today.
"This is a proof that the current work of the STL is going down a serious path to reveal the truth," he said.
Youssef voiced regret over the leaked information on the investigations used to harm the reputation of the STL, which was working in the privacy to collect proof and evidence.
"Today, the picture will be different as it is now clear and serious," he has said.
"Today is a historic day for the truth in Lebanon since the plaintiff is presenting all the evidence available. For the first time in the Criminal Court, the victims are present, which is of vital importance for truth and justice in order to end the political assassination and all other crimes," the STL spokesperson noted.
On the possibility of annexing the cause of the accused Hassan Habib Merhi to that of Badreddine, Youssef made clear that the relevant authorities have not yet taken a decision in this regard.
He finally reported that the presence of media and journalists at the trial underscored the importance of the work of the STL.
