NNA - MP Melhem Khalaf said on Twitter: "On the day we strived to amend Article 47 of the Criminal Code and impose the mandatory presence of a lawyer during the preliminary investigation, one of the goals was to prevent any torture during said investigations...What a shame that some security services have refrained from implementing this article! How disgraceful it is for Lebanon to be transformed from a state participating in drafting the Bill of Human Rights into a police-security state that violates all kinds of human rights and carries out all sorts of humiliation, intimidation and torture! Let everyone who caused the death of the detainee at the State Security be held accountable immediately!"
