Intensive escalation in the West Bank exacerbates the suffering of Palestinians on first day of Eid al-Fitr

NNA - On the first day of Eid al-Fitr, Israeli forces continue their military escalation in several areas of the West Bank, launching extensive military operations targeting Palestinians and their property, according to "Russia Today"

Palestinian media reported that dozens have been killed and wounded in recent days amid repressive practices targeting Palestinian cities, camps, and villages.

In the city of Tulkarm and its camps, military operations continue for the 63rd consecutive day, with Israeli forces storming multiple areas of the city, including the Artah suburb and Nur Shams camp. Families in the Jabal al-Saleheen area were threatened with evacuating their homes by the morning of the first day of Eid, and Israeli bulldozers began extensive destruction of infrastructure.

In Jenin camp, residents were subjected to violent repression as they attempted to visit the Martyrs' Cemetery on Eid morning. Israeli forces fired tear gas canisters at the residents, causing several to suffer from suffocation, including journalist Nour al-Fares. The forces also sent large military reinforcements to the camp, and systematic bulldozing and destruction operations continue, displacing more than 21,000 people so far and completely destroying 600 homes.

The ongoing Israeli military operations, which have been continuing for weeks, have resulted in the deaths of 34 Palestinians in the Jenin Governorate alone, and 13 others in the city of Tulkarm and its refugee camps. They have also displaced thousands and destroyed hundreds of homes and businesses. The targeted areas have also witnessed widespread arrest campaigns and the creation of military checkpoints that have impeded civilian movement.
