NNA - The Syrian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday condemned the "ongoing Israeli aggression" against the country, describing it as a "flagrant violation" of its sovereignty.
This followed an Israeli incursion and shelling of a village in the southern Daraa governorate, which resulted in six deaths. The Israeli army announced it had launched airstrikes in response to "gunfire," according to Agence France-Presse.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry condemned "the ongoing Israeli aggression on Syrian territory, which witnessed a dangerous escalation in the village of Koaya in the western Daraa countryside," adding that the village was subjected to "intense artillery and air bombardment targeting residential neighborhoods and farms, resulting in the deaths of six civilians."
Local authorities had previously reported the deaths of at least four people in Israeli shelling of the town, followed by "the displacement of residents of the area."
