Iran Must Fully Abandon Nuclear Program: US National Security Advisor

NNA - The U.S. National Security Advisor emphasized that Iran must fully abandon its nuclear program, warning of severe consequences otherwise.

Mike Waltz, U.S. National Security Advisor, further elaborated on the tough stance of President Donald Trump regarding Iran’s nuclear program, building on previous threats. Waltz spoke to CBS on Sunday, March 23, stating that the Trump administration seeks the “complete dismantling” of Iran’s nuclear program. He emphasized that Iran must transparently abandon its efforts to acquire nuclear weapons, with the world closely monitoring the process.

Waltz clarified that this demand goes beyond temporary limits or past diplomatic games and delivers a clear message to Iran: “Give up the entire program, or face the consequences.” These comments reflect Trump’s aggressive approach towards Iran, as he had previously sent a letter to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, calling for negotiations on a new nuclear deal. The letter, however, was accompanied by threats of using force if Iran refused to cooperate.

Waltz reiterated the threat that “all options are on the table” and stated that Iran, as an “irrational actor,” must not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons. He also pointed out Iran’s support for proxy groups like the Houthis in Yemen, arguing that these actions, which threaten global trade and regional security, are key factors prompting the U.S. to adopt a hardline position.--agencies
