NNA – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has urged all parties to prevent a resumption of hostilities in Gaza, warning that renewed conflict would result in immense tragedy.  

“We must avoid at all costs the resumption of hostilities in Gaza that would lead to an immense tragedy,” Guterres said in a statement.  

He appealed to Hamas to proceed with the planned release of hostages scheduled for Saturday and called on both sides to fully honor their commitments under the cease-fire agreement. Guterres also stressed the importance of resuming serious negotiations in Doha for the second phase of the truce.
