Iraqi Prime Minister: We refuse to link what happened in Syria to regime change in Iraq

NNA - The Iraqi Prime Minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, considered the talk about linking change in Syria to changing the political system in Iraq to be non-negotiable, stressing that mistakes would be addressed under the umbrella of the constitution and the law, according to “Sky News.”

Al-Sudani said in a speech on Saturday: “We have a pluralistic democratic system that includes everyone, guarantees the peaceful transfer of power, and allows reform and correction of defects under the umbrella of the constitution and the law.”

Al-Sudani explained that Iraq's enemies tried to exploit regional developments to sow discord and target the country's unity.

He added that the government has been keen, since the beginning of the events in Syria, to take a neutral position and let the Syrian people decide their fate without interference.

He also stressed that Iraq "will not accept any external interference that imposes changes in the economic or security files," emphasizing that "the government is continuing to implement plans to reform security and political institutions," and calling for "strengthening national unity to confront challenges."
