NNA - The military spokesman for the Yemeni Ansar Allah group, the Houthis, announced on Wednesday that an American MQ9 plane was shot down with a surface-to-air missile in the airspace of Ma'rib, according to Russia Today.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree said in a statement: “The air defenses of the Yemeni armed forces were able to shoot down an American MQ_9 aircraft while it was carrying out hostile missions in the airspace of Ma’rib Governorate.”

He stated that "the operation to shoot down the plane was carried out with a locally made surface-to-air missile," noting that "this plane is the second plane that our air defenses were able to shoot down within 72 hours, and the fourteenth during the battle of the promised conquest and holy jihad in support of Gaza."

He added: "The Yemeni Armed Forces confirm that they will continue their operations in support of Gaza, and that these operations will not stop unless the aggression against Gaza is stopped and the siege is lifted."
