NNA - The new Syrian Minister of Information, Muhammad al-Omar, told Agence France-Presse that he is working to “build a free media,” pledging to guarantee “freedom of expression” in a country where the media suffered decades of restrictions under the rule of the Assad family, according to “Agence France-Presse.”
Al-Omar said, "We are working to rebuild a free Syrian media characterized by objectivity and professionalism, and to enhance the freedom of the press and expression of opinion, which was severely restricted in the areas of the ousted regime."
