NNA - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi stressed, during a phone call, the necessity of preserving the integrity of Syrian territory and organizing a comprehensive national dialogue with the participation of all political parties.
The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed the situation in and around Syria with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, as well as the schedule of upcoming bilateral contacts at the highest level.
The Foreign Ministry explained in a statement reported by "Russia Today": "The two sides exchanged detailed assessments of the situation in and around Syria, and there was consensus on the necessity of exerting all efforts and fully respecting the basic principles of UN Security Council Resolution No. 2254, and first and foremost, preserving the integrity and unity of Syrian territory, organizing a comprehensive national dialogue with the participation of all political and ethnic parties and all external players who have interests in Syria and can have a positive impact on the search for national consensus."
It added that the two ministers agreed to continue "close cooperation to strengthen the aforementioned approach," noting that the schedule of upcoming Russian-Jordanian contacts were discussed at a high level.
The two sides also emphazied "the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation and coordination on regional issues to achieve just peace in the region."
