Qatar reopens its embassy in Damascus

NNA - On Saturday, Qatar reopened its embassy in Syria 13 years after its closure, according to what an Agence France-Presse correspondent witnessed, at a time when regional and Western countries are sending representatives to Damascus to meet with the new authority after the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s rule.

In the upscale Abu Rummaneh area, the reporter witnessed the process of raising the flag over the embassy building, whose doors had been open since the morning hours, while workers were busy cleaning the building and its courtyard and removing graffiti from its walls.

Qatar is the second country to officially reopen its embassy in the Syrian capital, afterTurkey, since the fall of Assad on December 8.
