Georgia elections: Voting kicks off as voters clash

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has already blamed the opposition for allegedly stoking tensions as footage appeared to show a fight breaking out at a polling station in Zugdidi, but insists authorities will prevent disorder.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze claimed today was a “referendum between war and peace, between immoral propaganda and traditional values, between the past and the bright future of the country."

Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili simply characterized the choice facing Georgian voters as “between good and evil”, insisting that the ruling Georgian Dream party is the “only” choice.

After two hours of voting, the turnout for the parliamentary elections in Georgia was 9.27%. --- RT
