The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said in a statement on its account on the “X” platform that “an earthquake measuring 5 degrees occurred at 09:31 (+3 GMT) in the city of Kahramanmaraş.”

It added, "The epicenter of the earthquake was in the state's Pazardzhik district."

The statement indicated that "the earthquake occurred at a depth of 7 kilometers below the surface of the earth."

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Department clarified in a later statement that there were no losses reported.
