NNA - On Thursday, Acting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri arrived in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, for a series of high-level discussions with Iraqi officials.

According to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA), Bagheri's visit will include meetings with senior Iraqi leaders.

Bagheri began his visit by paying respects at the monument of Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, located on the airport road in Baghdad.

This visit is part of a broader regional tour that will see Bagheri engage with key Iraqi political figures, including Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, ministers, members of the House of Representatives, the Supreme Judicial Council, the National Security Advisor, and others.

On Friday, Bagheri will travel to Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, to hold meetings with Kurdish officials.

IRNA reported that Bagheri's discussions in Iraq will focus on the shared interests of the two nations, addressing security challenges and threats, regional security, and consultation on both regional and international issues.

This visit occurs while the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was originally scheduled for a three-day visit to Iraq starting May 28.--agencies
