President Aoun presides over Cabinet session at Baabda Palace, reveals a Qatari delegation to visit Lebanon next week to address electricity issue

NNA -  President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, during today’s Cabinet session held at Baabda palace under his chairmanship, congratulated the Lebanese on the occasion of the glorious Easter.

President Aoun also offered his condolences to the Ministry of Defense and the Army Command for the martyrdom of the  Adjutant who fell while dismantling mines and explosives in a tunnel in the Tyre area. Aoun also thanked the Intelligence Directorate and the General Security for arresting some members of the cell that launched rockets from southern Lebanon.

During the Cabinet session, President Aoun also referred to his field visits to the Traffic Management Authority and the Port of Beirut, stating that "corruption and administrative red tape can be addressed through e-government," calling for "cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and relevant ministries to implement it."

Additionally, the President of the Republic presented the outcomes of his visit to Qatar, describing his meeting with Qatari Emir Tamim as "fruitful and excellent," and indicated "Qatar's readiness to support the military institution."

Aoun also announced that he had asked Qatar to "increase its investments in Lebanon" and revealed that a Qatari delegation will visit Lebanon next week to discuss the electricity dossier.

He also called on Qatar, as a member of the consortium, to "accelerate gas exploration," and hailed "its experience in e-government as well as the success of the Lebanese expatriates."

President Aoun also stressed that "the countries supporting Lebanon insist on the need for reform," commending the government's completion of the banking sector's reform draft law, which he signed and referred to Parliament.

While thanking the government for "the adoption of two reform draft laws", he wished "the Minister of Finance success in his visit to the United States and his meetings with the International Monetary Fund."

Aoun also stressed the "need to complete the draft law on the financial gap in a timely manner."

Touching on the appointments’ dossier, the President of the Republic hoped that "they will be completed within the Council for Development and Reconstruction soon, and that the judicial and diplomatic formations will be completed without delay."
