Army Chief inspects army units deployed in South Litani sector, says rockets launched from Lebanese territory serve the enemy

NNA - Army Commander, General Rodolph Haykal, inspected on Saturday the South Litani Sector Command at the Benoit Barakat Barracks in Tyre, where he met with officers and soldiers.

Haykal emphasized that "the deployed units, officers and soldiers, play a fundamental role in serving the nation and contributing to its resilience," adding that "the duty of the military institution is to protect Lebanon and its people, regardless of their affiliations."

Haykal stressed that the Lebanese army is exerting tremendous efforts to carry out its missions in the south, as confirmed by the leadership of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the five-member committee supervising the ceasefire agreement (Mechanism).

He said: "We are committed to implementing Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement without any delay, in accordance with the directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, and based on the commitment of the Lebanese government. We will continue to cooperate, coordinate, and implement joint missions with UNIFIL."

General Haykal continued to underline that "the only obstacle before the completion of the army's deployment and the consolidation of the ceasefire is the presence of the Israeli enemy in the occupied points and positions within Lebanese territory, in addition to its repeated attacks on Lebanon, its violations of national sovereignty, and its efforts to find pretexts to expand its hostile actions against our homeland."

On the launching of rockets from Lebanese territory towards the occupied Palestinian territories, Haykal considered that this serves the enemy, noting that the army is conducting the necessary investigations to uncover the perpetrators, and has arrested a number of suspects who are under investigation.

He also emphasized the army leadership's efforts to stand by the military soldiers and improve their conditions through several steps, most notably the continued support for military medical coverage.

The Army Chief concluded by extending his warmest well-wishes to the soldiers on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

He then inspected the Maroun al-Ras Center, affiliated with the Fifth Intervention Regiment, where he was briefed on the operational situation within the Regiment's area of responsibility.
