EU EOM deploys 30 long-term observers to all regions of Lebanon on Thursday

NNA - The European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) in Lebanon will be holding an event on Thursday 14 April 2022 at 9:20 am at the main entrance of Movenpick Hotel, during which the 30 long-term observers will be deployed to all regions of Lebanon.

During the event, the Deputy Chief Observer Jarek Domański will make a short statement to the press and then the observers will load their equipment to their cars and they will then leave in a convoy from the hotel towards their destinations, where they will be based until after the elections.

On Election Day, the mission will comprise more than 150 observers from all 27 EU member states, Norway and Switzerland.

The core team arrived in Beirut on 27 March and is composed of 10 election experts covering the different aspects of the electoral process.

Thereafter, 40 short-term observers will join the mission around Election Day to observe the polling, voting and counting.

Some of these will also cover the Out of Country voting in 15 European countries where there is a significant presence of the Lebanese diaspora.

Other short-term observers recruited within the EU diplomatic community in Lebanon and a delegation from the European Parliament will also reinforce the mission close to the vote.

The EU Election Observation Mission will remain in the country until the conclusion of the electoral process.
