NNA - On the occasion of Easter, the Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See in Lebanon, H.E. Monsignor Paolo Borgia, visited the Italian Contingent of UNIFIL at the Shama base, where he was welcomed by the Commander of Sector West, Brigadier General Nicola Mandolesi.
Monsignor Borgia celebrated Holy Mass at the UNP 2-3 base chapel. The ceremony was attended by the Head of Mission and UNIFIL Force Commander, Major General Aroldo Lázaro, representatives of the Lebanese Armed Forces, battalion commanders of Sector West, members of the Military Technical Committee for Lebanon (MTC4L), and a large number of Blue Helmets.
During his homily, the Apostolic Nuncio expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Italian peacekeepers for their daily commitment to peace and stability in southern Lebanon. He emphasized that peace is always the result of sacrifice, and the presence of the military is a tangible sign of hope.
