NNA - Head of Buildings Safety Network, Engineer Youssef Fawzi Azzam, considered in a statement that "the Hermel fire is a wake-up call for the more than 1,700 unlicensed stations spread across Lebanon," adding that "these stations are like time bombs next to residential, commercial, and educational buildings and are a clear violation of urban planning."

He, therefore, called on the Ministry of Energy to "reopen the file on regulating fuel stations in cooperation with governors and the Higher Council for Urban Planning."
