NNA - The National Center for Geophysics in Bhannes, affiliated to the National Council for Scientific Research, on Monday reported that at 3:17 am Beirut time an earthquake occurred in the sea between Lebanon and Cyprus measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale approximately 160 km away from the Lebanese coast.
The earthquake, which originated in Turkey, was felt strongly felt by the residents of Lebanon, especially in the northern coastal areas.
In Turkey, the earthquake measured 7.9 degrees on the Richter scale, and in Cyprus, the earthquake measured 3.8 degrees on the Richter scale.
The earthquake also shook Syria and Jordan.
