NNA - The "Tiro Association for Lebanese Arts", through its project "Network of Arab Culture and Arts - Akan", has been nominated for the World Summit of the Information Society Awards 2022.
Out of 1000 projects submitted from different countries of the world, only 360 projects have been nominated for the voting phase taking place online, including 20 in each of the 18 WSIS Line of Action categories.
The platform of the Arab Culture and Arts Network will also be opened on the 23rd of this month in cooperation with the Lebanese Ministry of Culture at the National Library in Beirut’s Sanayeh area at 4:30 p.m. in conjunction with the launch of the first network conference under the slogan: "For Cultural Solidarity", with the conference activity continuing until March 25th.
The Arab Culture and Arts Network was established during the Corona pandemic crisis following an initiative by actor and director Kassem Istanbouli and cultural activists with the aim of connecting individuals and cultural institutions through an electronic platform in order to open channels for the exchange of events, festivals, and experiences in art and culture in Lebanon, the Arab region and the world at large in light of the current crises.
"We are working together for cultural solidarity, particularly following the pandemic that has greatly affected the cultural landscape in the region which made us re-assess transformations in order to find solutions to empower cultural communities among themselves in order to network and cooperate, support creativity and encourage exchange of creative works, improving policies that support culture and arts, and activating the role of art and culture in changing societies through free expression," the Network said in a statement.
