NNA - A night of violence which left four citizens killed turned into cautious calm under the supervision of the army in the northern city of Tripoli, NNA correspondent reported Saturday.
The fighting cantered around the usual axes, particularly in Mankoubeen and Jabal Mohsen regions, where machine guns and missiles were heavily used until an hour past midnight. At that time calm prevailed and only scattered gun shots were heard, which were met by prompt and direct retaliation by the army.
Four citizens were killed during the violence: Qassem Khodour, Abou Bakir Mikati, Mohammad Khaldiyeh and Zein Eddine Naboulsy.
At dawn the army established a checkpoint at the international highway linking Tripoli to Aakar. Car and identity checks were carried out on each vehicle, as wanted people were apprehended.
