NNA - Cautious calm prevails in Beddawi Refugee Camp and the neighboring town of Wadi Al-Nahleh after overnight and early morning clashes left one person injured and caused material damage.
The Lebanese Army intervened, deploying reinforcements to restore order, prevent further escalation, and track down those responsible. Early on Tuesday morning army specialists detonated two grenades found in Beddawi to eliminate potential threats.
The Arab Tribes Union issued a statement urging all parties in Wadi Al-Nahleh to exercise restraint and avoid escalation to protect civilians and prevent bloodshed. The statement reaffirmed the army and security forces’ role in maintaining stability, emphasizing that weapons should be exclusively in the hands of the Lebanese state to prevent threats to civil peace.
The statement also called on political and social leaders to take responsibility, address the root causes of the tensions, and promote unity to safeguard the community.
The clashes reportedly erupted after young men from Wadi Al-Nahleh intercepted and seized a truck carrying food aid from the Iranian Embassy.
