Deputy Mayor of 'Jewar Hashish' says "battles are between 10 & 15 kilometers from the town of Jarmash, occuring in clear Lebanese areas"

NNA - Hermel - Deputy Mayor of the border municipality of Jewar Hashish, Ali Jahjah Jaafar, explained in an interview with the National News Agency what is happening on the Lebanese-Syrian border, saying: “The Lebanese citizens left the Jarmash area three days ago and headed into Lebanese territory. The battles currently taking place are between 10 and 15 kilometers from the town of Jarmash, which are pure Lebanese areas, and are not located within Syrian territory.”

But the Syrian militants are targeting the Lebanese areas of al-Qasr, the water plains, al-Zakba, al-Midan, Marah al-Shaab, Qanafed, and al-Hawsharieh, which are inhabited Lebanese villages, with indiscriminate bombardment against them and against the Lebanese army centers there.

He stressed, "We are behind the Lebanese army and the Lebanese state, and some media outlets are conveying the image that the battles are in and around Jarmash. We were in our Lebanese homes and land, and they are the ones who tried to enter, and we will defend our land with all determination and strength."
