NNA - Pope Francis held prayers in the Vatican Sunday for the victims of an earthquake that hit the Philippines earlier this week, describing the south-eastern Asian country as a "dear nation" to thousands of worshipers.


An estimated two hundred people perished in the earthquake.


"I would like to express my deepest condolences to the people of Philippines," he said.
