NNA - The European Union said Friday there is "no alternative to diplomacy" to resolve the standoff over Iran's nuclear programme, ahead of weekend talks between Tehran and the United States.

"We take note of the announced talks between the US and Iran," said EU foreign policy spokesperson Anouar El Anouni. "Any development increasing the chances of a diplomatic outcome goes into the right direction." -- AFP
