NNA - Sputnik News Agency reported, citing the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia, that more than 80,000 Muslims performed Eid al-Fitr prayers today at the Grand Mosque of Moscow and its grounds.
A source in the Administration explained to "Russia Today" that "the number of worshippers at Eid al-Fitr prayers on Sunday in the mosque, the surrounding Islamic complex, and the surrounding streets exceeded 80,000 Muslims, while the mosque's main hall can accommodate approximately 10,000 worshippers. No public order violations were recorded."
The source noted that "the streets that were closed to vehicles to allow worshippers to reach the mosque resumed normal operations immediately after the prayer."
The source added, "We thank Muscovites and the capital's guests for their understanding. We also express our gratitude to the capital's authorities, police, and volunteers for the organized and efficient work they did to ensure the best conditions for worshippers."
