NNA - French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said on Tuesday that the Russian threat to Europe is "not theoretical," after US President Donald Trump's envoy ruled out such a possibility, according to Agence France-Presse.

Steve Witkoff confirmed in an interview with Fox News on Sunday that he does not believe Russian President Vladimir Putin "wants to control all of Europe," considering this threat "theoretical" because, he said, the Russian president "wants peace."

During his visit to Singapore, Barrot rejected this analysis in front of reporters. He said, "We are monitoring the facts, and the reality is that Russia today allocates 10% of its GDP to defense spending, which represents 40% of budget expenditures."

He added, "Its ongoing aggression over the past three years has extended beyond Ukraine, particularly through information manipulation that has even harmed France, and more significantly, to European countries like Romania, where the presidential elections were canceled due to disinformation campaigns led by Russian actors."
