NNA - German Ambassador to Chad, who was declared persona non grata by the government, was expelled for his "rude behavior" on Saturday night, officials in the Chadian capital, N'Djamena, told AFP on Sunday.

The Chadian government announced on Friday that it had asked the German ambassador to leave the country within 48 hours because of his "disrespect for diplomatic practices."

Chadian Foreign Minister Mohamed Saleh Nazif said, "The German ambassador to Chad, Jan-Christian Gordon Kreike, traveled on an Air France plane on Saturday evening."

Government spokesman Aziz Mohamed Salih confirmed the ambassador's departure.

A Chadian government source told the agency that "the authorities blame the diplomat, especially for his excessive interference" in the affairs of the country's administration, as well as his statements that tend to divide the Chadians.
