NNA - Head of the "Lebanese Movement" Party, Attorney Nabil Mchantaf, warned "all state officials, banks and the Banque du Liban against continuing with the theft of depositors' money, especially with the recent Capital Control bill that complements the theft of depositors' money in an explicit and legal way."
"The people's revolution will not remain peaceful if things reach this point of pursuing the looting of depositors' money,” he said, noting that banks are entrusted with depositors' funds in accordance with the Monetary and Credit Law and the state must maintain that trust in accordance with all laws.
“It is unacceptable that the state procrastinates for two years without issuing the Capital Control law to preserve depositors' money, so that approximately 9.5 billion dollars were smuggled abroad during that period, according to 'Moody's International' statistics,” Mchantaf’s statement continued.
He, thus, called on "state officials, especially presidents, cabinet ministers and parliament representatives, to issue the appropriate Capital Control law immediately, to preserve depositors' money and return it to its owners in full, without incurring any losses to depositors."
