NNA - Minister of Industry, George Boujikian, and UNIDO Representative in Lebanon, Emmanuel Kalenzi, on Wednesday discussed a number of joint projects that are in the process of implementation between the ministry of industry and the UN organization.

The pair stressed the need to establish new projects for the benefit of the industrial sector, its development, and modernization.

"UNIDO has secured an amount of three million seven hundred thousand euros, provided by the European Union, to fund renewable energy projects in Lebanon," Kalenzi told Boujikian.

In turn, Boujikian highly valued the European initiative, through UNIDO. “It is very necessary and important to rely on alternative energy sources, other than oil, to cut the oil bill and reduce emissions and pollution,” the Industry Minister said.

Boujikian separately met with European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Ralph Tarraf, with whom he discussed a number of projects funded by EU countries for the benefit of the Lebanese industrial sector.
