NNA - Minister of Public Health, Firas Abiad, on Thursday said that the new Omicron coronavirus variant had not been detected in Lebanon and that the Ministry would be transparent in case it reached the country.

"There are no Omicron cases in Lebanon until now. If, God forbid, this variant reaches (Lebanon), we will be very transparent," the Minister told Radio Lebanon.

Moreover, Abiad said that people can no longer afford a lockdown, given the dire economic and social conditions.
