NNA - Lebanon bid farewell Sunday the late Henry Chalhoub in a funeral mass service led by Beirut Maronite Archbishop Boulos Matar and marked by the presence of various formal, economic and sports officials, who gathered at Saint George Maronite Cathedral in Beirut to pay final respect to the late.
Representing President Michel Sleiman and Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati at the funeral mass was Caretaking Information Minister, Walid Daoud. Daouk bestowed upon the late's coffin the "National Cedar Citation of a Knight's Order" on behalf of the President of the Republic, in recognition of his many contributions in the world of business and sports.
Also attending the funeral mass were: MP Ammar Houri representing former Prime Ministers Saad Hariri and Fouad Siniora; former Minister Ziad Baroud; Canadian Ambassador Hillary Childs-Adams; Brigadier General Tony Haddad representing Lebanese Army Commander; alongside heads of federations and sports clubs, political party officials, economic and civil association representatives and various other prominent figures.
In his religious sermon, Archbishop Matar eulogized the deceased, considering his passing away as a "great loss" to Lebanon, in light of his lifetime of devotion, service and love for his nation.
