NNA - A delegation of the "Second Vatican Council and Eastern Churches" international conference shall visit next Thursday, October 24, 2013, Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi, to receive his blessings and request his patronage of their event, the Conference's Organized Committee said.



The delegation's visit comes prior to the official announcement of the international conference's program.



The Conference is organized by the Maronite Ecclesiastical Patriarchate- Ghazir- and the Christian East Center for Research and Publications, affiliated to the Faculty of Religious Sciences at the University of Saint Joseph-Beirut.



A ceremony will be taking place marking the fiftieth anniversary of the convening of the Council, with the participation of scores of theologians and intellectuals from Lebanon and other European countries, on May 7-10, 2014.



The conference aims at shedding light on the role of the Eastern Church in the Council, and its achievements within the eastern milieu, as per a statement by Conference committee.



The conference will also address topics related to church theology, legal rights, ecumenical theology, relations among religions, and pastoral theology.
