NNA - The Lebanese medical society witnessed today the launch of a valuable monograph on biotherapies and autoimmune diseases by Dr. George Saliba, President of the Continuous Medical Education (CME) at the OML and Head of the rheumatology Division at the Lebanese University. Biotherapeutic medicines (biotechnologies) are an integral and valuable component of modern medicine for the treatment and prevention of serious illnesses and diseases. The arrival of "smart drugs" is changing the future of many cancer patients while reversing the therapeutic approach of systemic diseases in rheumatology, neurology, gastroenterology, dermatology and other metabolic diseases.
"Many patients worldwide are leading healthier lives thanks to biotherpeutic medicines" explained Dr Saliba. "With a unique and diverse range of specific targets, biotherapeutic medicines open new avenues for delivering cutting-edge personalized treatments for numerous diseases and wide patient populations (predictive medicine). Effective oversight in all these areas will help to manage risk and maximize benefits for patients", he concluded.
