NNA - The Director of the Tyre Municipalities Union, Mr. Mortada Mhanna, on behalf of the President of the Union, Mr. Hassan Dbouk, and in the presence of Mr. Alwan Sharafeddine, received the Commander of the Italian Contingente, Colonel Giacomo TRICASE, who presented a donation of food supplies to the Tyre Municipalities Union.
The donation was preceded by a meeting, during which Director Muhanna first thanked the Italian Contingent operating within UNIFIL for its effective and supportive role in the local community and its support for the Union, especially during the recent crisis. Despite the risks, this did not deter them from carrying out numerous donations. He also explained to Colonel TRICASE the Union's role in supporting the residents of the towns of Tyre District, especially the displaced, and the difficulties they face. For his part, Colonel TRICASE thanked the Union's President and Director, Mr. Mortada Mhanna, for the warm welcome. He emphasized that this donation stems from UNIFIL's, and the Italian contingent's, conviction of the necessity of standing with the local community, represented by its official bodies and institutions, to enable them to return to normal life. He affirmed the Italian contingent's continued cooperation for the benefit of the local community. Finally, the group toured the displaced persons' homes and viewed the agricultural support project allocated to them by the Union and an international donor oraganisation.
