NNA - The Government of Japan will provide a grant to the Lebanese Succour Association (LSA) through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Program (GGP). On February 12, 2025, Ambassador MAGOSHI Masayuki signed a grant contract with Mr. Yahya Ghanem, Head of the Lebanese Succour Association.
The Lebanese Succour Association (LSA), based in Bar Elias, Zahle, Bekaa, serves approximately 336,000 people. The region, affected by Lebanon's economic crisis, has seen the suspension of emergency transport services, leaving many patients to rely on private transport.
LSA provides vital free emergency medical services and relief efforts, especially in the Bekaa region. However, due to the economic crisis and aging ambulances, LSA struggles to meet the growing demand for emergency transport. In addition, therecent war has also displaced over 1.3 million people, further straining resources. In response, Japan has decided to support the Bar Elias Emergency Center by providing a new ambulance equipped with first aid supplies, which will help transport approximately 1,250 patients annually and ensure timely medical care.
At the signing ceremony, Ambassador MAGOSHI reaffirmed Japan’s dedication to supporting Lebanon’s health sector. Mr. Ghanem, on behalf of LSA, expressed gratitude for Japan’s assistance, emphasizing that this contribution will significantly improve access to emergency medical transportation for those in critical need across the Bekaaregion.
