NNA - The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Abbas Al-Hajj Hassan, held a coordination meeting with United Nations organizations to discuss agricultural damages, in the presence of the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, the Resident Coordinator, and Acting Humanitarian Coordinator, Matthew Hollingworth, the Deputy FAO Representative in Lebanon, Veronica Quattriolla, and the UNDP Resident Representative in Lebanon, Blerta Aliço, alongside a number of experts and technicians from the Ministry of Agriculture and various organizations.
Minister Al-Hajj Hassan opened the meeting by emphasizing the "importance of cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Agriculture and UN organizations," pointing out that "the ministry has completed the preliminary survey on agricultural damages and has finalized the formation of organizational, technical committees, and field teams according to the damage survey methodology adopted by the Ministry since the declaration of the ceasefire."
On his part, Hollingworth presented the "action plan developed by experts," highlighting the "use of aerial surveys, along with field verification and the completion of detailed damage forms under the supervision and follow-up of the Ministry of Agriculture, enabling precise identification of required interventions and assistance to the affected through programs and projects implemented in Lebanon."
The participants agreed on the "action plan for joint cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and UN organizations within the framework of the agricultural damage survey, which will be officially announced next Friday."
At the conclusion of the meeting, Al-Hajj Hassan expressed his gratitude to the "UN organizations for their fruitful cooperation and continuous support, which has helped restore internal and international confidence," stressing the "importance of joint efforts to strengthen the resilience of the agricultural sector in Lebanon."
