NNA - On the occasion of World Bee Day, Caretaker Minister of Environment, Nasser Yassin, highlighted the crucial role of bees, stressing Lebanon's abundant environmental and natural wealth, particularly attributed to wild bees. He underscored Lebanon's status as one of the richest countries in terms of biodiversity, boasting over 800 different species of wild bees, including a recently discovered species, marking a first globally.

Emphasizing the significance of bee protection, Yassin also emphasized the importance of safeguarding our natural wealth, including wild bee species, as well as the various flowers and wild trees they pollinate.

“Protecting environmental and biological diversity is essential for the continuity of life on Earth, a necessity threatened globally by climate change and global warming,” the minister stressed. 

Moreover, Yassin highlighted the pivotal role of protecting wild bees in Lebanon's protected areas and nature reserves, efforts spearheaded by the Ministry of Environment to preserve Lebanon's environmental and natural richness.
