Berri: Lebanon's political situation titled 'disruption, no dialogue'

NNA - Speaker of the Parliament, Nabih Berri described politics in Lebanon as a coin with two faces, one titled "no dialogue" and the other "disruption".

Berri's remarks came on Friday during a celebration at Phoenicia hotel held by the Bar Association to honor 42 lawyers, including Speaker Nabih
Berri, on their 50-year seniority.

Berri highly appreciated this step, stressing that the state, its institutions and all other orders and syndicates should follow suit to honor the distinguished Lebanese in different fields( economic ,medical, educational, etc....), whether in Lebanon or abroad.

Berri added that currently justice was no more as it used to be in the past when logic used to set judgments, for now it adopts double standards, breaches the international law and shurgs off the constructive chaos, strife and assassination schemes jeopardizing the Middle East.

"We are here talking about justice in its political, economic and social meaning in addition to that of law," Berri explained.

"I would like to inform you that the Human Rights committee at the Lebanese Parliament has accomplished a national proposal for Human Rights, and we are now waiting to resume legislation to issue it as a Lebanese parliamentary declaration," Berri said.

The Speaker considered that the problem in Lebanon was that everybody considered themselves above the law and every perpetrator sheltered within his sect, community or party.
