NNA - Speaker of the House, Nabih Berry, stressed unrelenting battle to realize the independence of judiciary and prevent political interference in it.



Speaker Berry's fresh words came on Thursday evening in his speech at a ceremony held by the Bar Association in honor of Berry and scores of lawmen who spent 50 years in said profession.



The ceremony was attended by President of the Republic Michel Sleiman's representative Caretaker Justice Minister, Shakib Qertbawi, as well as Outgoing Prime Minister, Najib Mikati's representative Caretaker Information Minister, Walid Daouk.



Berry asked of the Bar Association to come out with an up-to-date related law, to keep up with the current modernization, and called for the formation of a consultative framework for coordination and follow-up of judicial work to realize this end.



At the political level, Berry pointed out that "there is nothing new in this regard," noting that the headline of the current political status can be described as "Hindrances and No dialogue."



He also pointed out that "House Commission for Administration and Justice accomplished a national plan for human rights," soliciting the Association's support for the drafting of human rights policy.
