Habib warns of buried Hezbollah coup against state

NNA - Future bloc MP, Khoder Habib, on Monday refused to succumb to Hezbollah's cabinet formation conditions, accusing the party of staging an unannounced coup against the Lebanese state.

"Hezbollah attempts to practice hegemony on state institutions, airport, security apparatuses, as well as land crossing borders," he told MTV Lebanon, assuring that his bloc will not rerun previous scenarios by offering Hezbollah a lot of compromises at the state's expense.

As for Tuesday's Parliamentary session, Habib asserted that Speaker of the House Nabih Berr's call was outright legit, and expected the attendance of all political parties.

"There is no need for the cabinet to be represented during tomorrow's session because the session is not legislative in nature," he said, making clear that the session aims to elect new Parliament bureau members, at the presence of Outgoing Prime Minister Najib Mikati "who will attend in his capacity as member of parliament."

With regard to Wednesday's Parliamentary session, the MP reminded of the impossibility to legislate under the rule of a caretaking cabinet.

"We will partake in this session if its works agenda is modified," the lawmaker said.

Habib also called for giving Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam "the full freedom to form a new cabinet."
